The Marcellus Shale formation has a nationwide impact.  Development in this region could increase energy security, increase American jobs and add revenue to local, state and federal coffers.

The Marcellus Shale physically crosses four (4) states, but its impact spans the nation.  If fully developed, the Marcellus Shale could become the second largest natural gas field in the world (next only to fields in Qatar and Iran) with recoverable reserves estimated at over 489 trillion cubic feet of clean-burning natural gas, greatly enhancing our energy security.

The economic benefits are equally astounding, because natural gas production in the Marcellus Shale region—if developed—could create 280,000 new American jobs and add $6 billion in new tax revenues to local, state and federal governments over the next decade

These benefits can only be achieved if America can continue to access resources in the Marcellus Shale Formation, and without the penalties of high energy taxes and other regulations that would stymie development.
